Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy, who is currently teaching as a full-time Professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim is one of the leading pianists of his generation. At University he passed all his examinations with highest distinction and since he was a child he has been winning an impressing amount of top-prizes in international piano competitions throughout the world.

He has performed in renowned concert halls and on the occasion of international festivals, eg. the Philharmonia Berlin, the Philharmonia St Petersburg, the “Berlin Festwochen”, “White Nights” St Petersburg, the Musikfestspiele Saar, the Teatro Olimpico Vicenza, the Forbidden City Concert Hall Beijing, the International Piano Festival Miami (USA), the Concert Halls in Wuhan and Tianjin, the Opera House Hanoi, the “Mozartfest Schwetzingen”, “Alexandria Opera House” and “Manasterly Palace Kairo” (Egypt), “Philharmonic Hall Poznan” the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonia Lodz, the “International Mozart Festival Cluj, the Philharmonias in Sibiu, Cluj, Timisoara, and Brasov (Romania), the Saarbrücken Congress Hall, International Music Festival Ribadesella (Spain), the “International Piano Festival Malaysia” … and additionally an impressive number of international engagements such as concerts in France, Austria, Switzerland, Finnland, Slovenia, Jordania, Luxembourg, Philippines, Italy…

He has realized radio and television broadcasts in Germany (SR, SDR, Radio Bremen, SWR Baden Baden, Deutschlandradio Berlin), Italy (RAI), Switzerland (DRS), Slowenia (RTV) and the Philippines (BMG). He has also published CD’s for Label ebs (Bayer records) and for Label Brilliant Classics.

In the past years his students have won numerous first prizes in international and european piano competitions. Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy serves as judge in many International Piano Competitions (e.g. International German Piano Award (Chairman), Concours International de Piano d’Épinal, International Piano Competition Thailand, International Piano Competition ClaviCologne, International Piano Competition MozARTE) and was invited to give masterclasses for the Amiata Piano Festival”, “Musica Viva” (Italy), for the University of Alberta Canada, for the Piano Highschool Beijing, for the Lang Lang International Music Foundation in Munich, Barcelona, Vienna and Warsaw, for the Festival International de Musique de Dinard (F), for the “Camerata dell’Arte Foundation” and “Opusfest” (Philippines), for the Festival “Musiktage Saarlouis” (Germany), for the Academy of cultural affairs Saarlouis, at the Conservatory in Cluj (Romania), in the course of the “International Piano Festival Malaysia”.

Between 2010 and 2017 he held a chair for piano teaching at the “University of Music and Performing Arts Munich” and since 2017 after rejecting a job offer from the Hanns Eisler Hochschule in Berlin he is working as a full-professor at the “University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim”. Since 2007 Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy is also teaching at the prestigious “École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot” in Paris (France). He founded a broad musical mentoring project”WSL-Masterclass” in which he works with a fine selection of the most outstanding international piano talents.
